mix-ups of Dr Mixum’s Zoo, as they go on the craziest adventures this side of the hippo-pig enclosure.

SYNOPSIS
How long is an ostrich-giraffe’s neck? Are wolf-sheep vegetarian? Why did the chicken-gorilla
cross the road? If your answer to all of these questions is SAY WHAAAT!? It’s obviously your first visit to The Weird World of Nox ‘n Harper.

Join Nox, a cheery tortoise-fox, and Harper, a neurotic Deer-squirrel as they take you

every cage and feeding the croco-sharks is strictly forbidden.

From yodeling elephant-goats to a moose-owl psychologist, walking
the plank to Wild West showdowns, there’s enough crazy adventure to keep you coming back again and again.

2010

Long story short, I joined PaperCut Studio in the beginning of 2010, bought shares in the company and that money was used to fund Myself and two other Director of PaperCut Studios going to MIPtv in Cannes France.  I setup meetings with amazing companies like Marvel, Nelvana, Gaumont-Alphanim, Skywriters, ToonBoom and many more.  After meeting with Gaumont-Alphanim showing them the showreel that consisted mostly of mine and Rudolph Boonzaaier’s work and a nudge by ToonBoom’s President and CEO Joan Vogelesang we brought home 13 episodes to prepare and animate on the 52 x 13 minute series “The Green Squad”.

While I was at PaperCut Studios my main titles were  Studio Director and I was The Animation Director and one of the Lead Animators on four of the Episodes. Ep20 – Sharks in Danger, Ep30 – Sperm Whale , Ep33 – Hero of the Altiplano and Ep34 – King of the Circus.  I left PaperCut Studios in September 2010 leaving the team we trained up and hired to complete the project.  At the hight of the project we had 42 staff working on the South African team, it was fantastic!!

The main team of artist who worked on "The Green Squad" episodes produced in South Africa.

In this “Indiana Jones meets Scooby Doo” adventure show, three siblings enlist the aid of a global blogging network to save the planet’s natural treasures. From the deepest jungles of Borneo to the remote cliffs of the Grand Canyon, the Green Squad lives an action-packed life protecting endangered species. Being a teen just got a whole lot more exciting!

CHANNELS THE SHOWS AIRING ON:

Switzerland – RTS

Malaysia – NTV7

Israel – Noga

Claire plans to become a journalist and writes up the Green Squad Blog. She has a fiery temperament, tends to say exactly what she thinks or « feels », at times before she thinks. She is the driving force of the trio, rarely over awed by adversity. Stubborn, she needs a proper explanation before she will budge. Passionate, she gets annoyed when people don’t get as indignant as she does or when things aren’t moving fast enough.  As the eldest, she feels a great sense of responsibility to take care of her brothers. Beware the daredevil!

Julian is the intrepid and eternally optimistic twin. Fond of photography, he provides images for the Green Squad Blog. He is a born romantic and the prankster of the three. Real outdoors kid, he loves action man gadgets, and he’s always well prepared (maps, rucksacks, compasses…), producing just the right tool at the right time. Julian has a real self-confidence, he can keep a cool head in a tight spot and make a heavy situation light.

Thomas has an innate resourcefulness. He wants to be an engineer. He designed the Green Squad Blog and keeps it up to date with his, ever present super sophisticated slim-line laptop. He is the least outdoors type of the trio. Very intellectual and sensitive, he loves to draw and is rather timid, even tad fearful. Sometimes he suffers from odd allergies. Thomas is often the mediator, the moderate voice of reason. He is better at using his brain than his brawn! He is very intelligent, but you mustn’t take him for a bookworm. Adventure is in the Green Squads blood!

Wifi is very intelligent, he understands everything that’s going on and can sneak into places where the children can’t go. His streetwise sense and quick action get the trio out of more than one tight spot. He’s very cartoon and a great source of comedy. Used to his comfort, he sometimes has a little cultural clash with some animals. His weapon is a formidable, intolerable and very efficient, stinking jet that sprays from under his tail and never misses its target!

The first 2D animation learner-ship in South Africa has finally come to an end. Funded by SABC ( www.sabc.co.za ), South Africa’s biggest broadcaster. Headed by Portal to Learning ( www.portaltolearning.co.za ) they hired industry professionals to mentor the learners through the 10 month course.

I was brought in to be Lead Trainer and Animation Director.

The learners some of which hadn’t even used computers before, worked hard to get over 20 minutes of animation to SABC by the end of the 10 month learner-ship.

With that said, enjoy what 7 learners have accomplished in an almost impossible deadline. The five episodes aren’t available yet so here is a sneak peek.

Back in 2007 I was hired by NewVision to produce a pilot episode for a mobile series called “Rednecks”, which was pitched to a company in the UK. I had a week to character design and animated the pilot.  It was crazy!!

I left New Vision soon after this project.

Raj Brothers Loeries Antics

Ad agency Net#work BBDO turned vehicle advertising on its head three years ago with two cartoon characters called the Raj Brothers and their antics on behalf of the Opel Corsa Lite. The idea was to sell “the lighter side of life”.

BYLINE: Brendan Seery

“This year’s Loerie Awards thrash for advertising creative excellence – in Margate last weekend – was one of the best yet. Slick organization (generally speaking), improved shows and presentations and, because of the drier weather, an even better vibe. So why did many walk away with a slight sense of disappointment?

Perhaps because some of the most entertaining and creative work on show on both evenings wasn’t even an entrant: the humorous “transitions” in the show and the hilarious but touching Farewell Ladies performance by the Raj Brothers (bulleted from the Corsa Lite campaign) brought the house down.”

Below are the interviews created by NetworkBBDO and TheDeliArtistsUnited which aired at the 2007 Loerie Awards in South Africa in Margate.  The Loerie Judges were all interviewed before hand and then the sound bites were cute and edited to create the interviews they had with the Raj Brothers.  The Loerie Awards is the biggest event of the year when it comes to Advertising in South Africa so allowing the Raj Brothers to host with their twisted humor and out of the box manners was quite the event. They introduced each category of the event over the two evenings.

I hope you enjoyed watching them as much as I enjoyed being part of the animation team that worked on them.  The evenings before the event we work through the nights to get animations done.  Ha ha ha Dave and I eating pizza at NetworkBBDO at 3am, good times 🙂
